TOUR DI-VINO, IL GIRO DEL MONDO IN UN CALICE

Weekend tra i filari, in terre che regalano ottimi vini, all’insegna del nettare degli dei, con tour in vigneti e cantine, degustazioni e attività legate all’enologia. In Italia e all’estero

Wine Tour: around the World in a Glass
Imagine a weekend between the rows, in the lands that offer the finest wines, reminiscent of the nectar of the gods. Enjoy leisurely tours in vineyards and wineries, and participate in delightful tastings and special wine events in Italy and abroad!
It’s called experiential tourism – the way of traveling through proposals that invite tourists to participate directly in various stages of collection and processing of grapes, stripping it of the role of spectator to embrace that of an actor. The harvest, an ancestral ritual that always exudes an irresistible charm, is the most striking opportunity to discover the wines of a region and enjoy performances of a nature artfully crafted by humans.
For this reason, many resorts organize ad hoc tourist packages. In Piemonte, in the heart of the Langhe, the Relais San Maurizio (www.relaissanmaurizio.it), a Relais & Châteaux (www.relaischateaux.com), offers from mid-September to late October the package “Squeezing the grapes,” the actual crushing of freshly-picked grapes. Following the wort is drawn off and placed in the barrel along with stalks from the grape skins in the fermentation and, after a shower in the barrel, there will be a tasting of wines from the winery to be savored with meats and cheeses.
In Tuscany, the Terme di Saturnia Spa & Golf Resort (www.termedisaturnia.it/it/resort), member of the Leading Hotels of The World (www.lhw.com), the package “Autumn Tasting” combines the living room with a food- and wine-tasting experience and the opportunity to visit selected vineyards to witness the harvest and winemaking process. The resort manifests its attention to the area and a philosophy of “pleasure in being” that inspired the proposals of the two restaurants at the resort, and Aqualuce All’Aquacotta, 1 Michelin Star.
In the Chianti Senese’s Borgo San Felice (www.borgosanfelice.it), once a country town, now a refined enchanted village, discover a Relais & Châteaux where the welcome and care for guests will make your stay unforgettable. The package “Discover Tuscany” includes 3 nights in a double room, dinner at the restaurant in the Poggio Rosso and a typical Tuscan restaurant, free access to all areas of the spa with sauna, Turkish bath, Kneipp, relaxation area, and two-hour treatments of choice. In addition, a four-hour tour with private car and driver to explore the area is coupled with a tour of the cellars of San Felice with original blind tastings in which you try to guess the wine you are tasting without seeing it.
Still in the Tuscan countryside, just outside Cortona, explore Relais Falconiere & Spa, a beautiful wine resort (www.ilfalconiere.it), a Tuscan villa of the mid-seventeenth century, entirely renovated and transformed into a charming residence. Its restaurant, a Michelin star, the kingdom of Silvia Regi Baracchi, derived from the ancient limonaia, offers a menu that plays the territory to its maximum expression. In this fantastic setting you can request tours through the surrounding vineyards and in the cellar Baracchi, with wine samplings of their fine production, culminating in the visit of champagne.
At The Albereta (www.albereta.it), another dwelling Relais & Châteaux, the “sister” of Bellavista, the winery that made the history of Franciacorta, you can enjoy a special experience, designed for enthusiast tasters. “In the heart of Bellavista and nell’Alma” a stay includes three nights in a deluxe room, dinner for two at the Bistro Bar, and three meetings conducted by the maitre-sommelier Hermes Cantera who will know all the nuances of the traditional Champagne method, to taste the most elegant vintage Bellavista and discover the historic and geological charm and uniqueness of a vineyard through the senses. Take advantage of free access to the Aqua-Fitness Vitalitè de l’Espace Henri Chenot, and a swimming pool with four different types of hydromassage and swimming, sauna, steam bath, Kneipp pool, and water cycling.
Sannio Relais La Pampa (www.lapamparelais.it) offers guests the opportunity to experience the harvest among the vineyards of the estate. Fourteen acres of vineyards, gardens, and orchards synergistically practice sustainable agriculture. The package “Melizzano in vintage” provides for the collection of grapes, the grape selection, and participation in the early stages of processing. The day continues with a picnic in the vineyards, the winery visit, and dinner with garden produce and wine of Pegasus, the red wine produced in a limited edition of La Pampa.
In Spain, at Elciego, among the vineyards of Rioja, the Hotel Marques de Riscal (www.hotel-marquesderiscal.com), is Starwood (www.starwoodhotels.com), the dream hotel designed by Frank O. Gehry. Featuring a stunning facade, created using over 30,000 square meters of titanium shades reminiscent of red wine, wine combines the tradition of the best wineries with luxury and the latest technology. Here we organize guided tours and tastings at the Wine Museum Dynasty Vivanco in Briones, the largest museum of its type in Europe, with a long path between the barrels, ancient presses, vintage displays, and multimedia screens. At sunset, to relax, there are treatments Vinothérapie® SPA Caudalie.
In France, Bouliac in Bordeaux, there are buildings constructed in 1989 by Jean Nouvel host Le Saint-James (www.saintjames-bouliac.com), dwelling Relais & Châteaux (www.relaischateaux.com), which holds seminars with wine tasting fine local wines.
Finally, in Portugal, in the Douro Valley, the Aquapura Douro Valley (www.aquapurahotels.com), a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World (www.slh.com), offers the package “Winemaker for a Day” in which guests create their own bottle of wine, complete with a label, during a river boat trip from Folgosa Quinta Nova.
